American Airlines and Delta Airlines to block porn on inflight wifi.
After much feed back from customers and flight attendants, both American
Airlines and Delta Airlines, plan to put programs in place to block
inappropriate contact.
At first, both airlines planned to give their flight
attendants another negative duty; "Porn Police" at 30,000 feet.
With many software programs available to block these racey or inappropriate
sites, it seems logical to take this step. Both airlines have stated that they
had planned to use software applications to block the use of internet plane
services such as Skype.
American Airlines is already testing internet wifi service on long-haul coast
to coast service. Delta Airlines plans, in November, to test wifi service on a
couple dozen of their MD-88. The price for service by both carriers is provided
by Aircell and will be $9.95 for flights up to 3 hours and $12.95 for
flights over 3 hours.
Southwest Airlines plans to test wifi service in early 2009. No price has
been set as of yet.
