AirTran Airways Will Discontinue Service To Savannah (GA), Seattle (WA) And San Diego (CA)

AirTran Airways will discontinue service to Savannah (GA), Seattle (WA) and San Diego (CA).

On October 27, 2008, Savannah (GA) will lose AirTran service. This is bad news for Savannah, with Air Tran being the only low-cost carrier on the market.

Once this happens, we expect big airfare hikes out of Hilton Head (SC) and Savannah (GA).

Be sure to use our Compare Nearby Airports feature, especially to/from Jacksonville (FL). There you still have AirTran Airways, Jetblue and Southwest Airlines with low airfares.

On November 1, 2008, AirTran Airways will discontinue service from Seattle and on January 5, 2009, AirTran Airways will also pull out of San Diego (CA).

Due to the number of low-cost airlines, which service both Seattle and San Diego, we don't expect any major airfare hikes.
