Arlington TX, February 1, 2008: Airfares to Europe for Spring 2008 are going to be
sky-high.
"When we compare Spring 2007 sale airfares to Europe with the
Spring 2008 sale airfares, it becomes very evident that the major airlines
flying these international routes are double dipping, raising airfares by
as much as 87% higher than last year," says Tom Parsons, CEO of
Bestfares.com, a fare-tracking discount travel website.
"Not only have the major airlines increased the base
airfares, but with the new additional $40 fuel surcharge added by Delta and Air
France, travelers now face an increase of $100 to $130 over 2007 costs in fuel
surcharges alone!" adds Parsons.
"Travelers to Europe now have to contend with a
combined airfare increase and a fuel surcharge increase that pushes up the total
price of their airfares by up to 87%. And they also have to face the fact that
last February a Euro cost them $1.30 (US) and currently it'll cost them $1.49
(US), an increase of 15%," warns Parsons.
"It's becoming crystal clear," says Parsons..."You better have two piggy banks set aside this year if Europe
is your dream vacation for 2008."
