Movies On US Airways Go Dark On 200 Airplanes
Movies on US Airways will go dark on future flights. The major airlines have
already removed magazines, pillows, blankets and even lettuce to reduce costs
due to high fuel prices.
US Airways has stated that they will remove their entertainment systems
weighing approximately 500 pounds each from approximately 200 domestic, Mexico,
Caribbean and Canada planes. Travelers on longhaul flights such as Hawaii and
Europe will still be able to watch the latest videos.
The estimated savings from the removal of the systems is a whopping $10
million annually. If you have travel planned on a US Airways flight, we suggest
that you bring along your laptop, mini DVD player or your Ipod if you want to
watch movies or other shows to keep you entertained.
