Listed below are sample roundtrip airfares to Florida if you use the travel certificate both ways. Best travel days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. America's top two largest low-cost airlines, Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways, have kicked off a new late summer and fall travel airfare sale.

AirTran Airways is offering airfares as low as $78 roundtrip and Southwest Airlines $98 roundtrip. Southwest Airlines is offering the lowest coast to coast airfares starting at $198 roundtrip or less, while AirTran Airways starts as low as $238 roundtrip or less.

By combining these two airlines, the total number of destinations on sale is approximately 100 U.S. cities. Travelers will be able to fly late summer and fall at big airfare discounts.

The trick is, as with all airfare sales, to be flexible and avoid traveling on Sundays, where the airfare can be more than double the lowest sale airfare. Southwest Airlines is also offering promotional airfares to Florida during this sale, which permits travel six days a week from select U.S.A. cities for the same low price. Again, traveling on Sunday may be higher.

AirTran Airways is also offering a $78 to $238 roundtrip fall travel sale. Last weeks sale permitted travel through November 11, 2009. This weeks sale permits travel through December 16, 2009, giving you another extra five weeks to travel on the cheaper sale airfares.

Travel is not permitted on November 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 2009. Travelers who are flexible and can avoid traveling on the these blackout dates may find this a good time to book Thanksgiving travel.

All major legacy airlines including American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Northwest Airlines, US Airways, and even the two low-cost airlines, AirTran Airways and Frontier Airlines, have matched Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways coast to coast airfare sale. AirTran is still offering its $238 roundtrip sale on markets not served by Southwest Airlines.
