In Texas you could be driving at 85 mph in a car rental and not getting a speeding ticket.
In Texas, we always say big is better. At our State Fair, we even have Big Tex, who stands 52 feet tall.
When it comes to highway speeds, Texas has big speed limits too.
What did surprise me is that the fastest speed allowed in the United States is 80 mph.
The Texas Legislation passed a new highway bill in September increasing the maximum speed on select Texas roads from 80 mph to 85 mph. This is this fastest speed limit in the entire country.
Don't get in that Maserati just yet, while Texas has highways that permit speeds of up to 80 mph, no highway to date that had the green light for 85 mph speed limits. But stay tuned, it will be coming soon and fast, probably sometime this December.
