When we checked picking up a car in Orlando on Saturday, May 19 and dropping the car off in Atlanta on Saturday, May 26, we got a rate with National for $88, with all taxes $116 for a compact, intermediate, standard or a full-size rental car.
Or course, you may pay less in taxes at non-airport locations such as Boca Raton, Clearwater, Punta Gorda, etc. However, you would have to find a ride from the airport to the local rental location, so unless you live in the city, or have family willing to drop you off at the neighborhood location, then this option is not cost effective.
The great thing about this offer is that you can keep the car for up to 21 days. This is great for families who want to site-see and do it for hundreds of dollars less than booking individual airfares to each city you want to see in America.
We have 16 different locations in Florida you can pick up your rental car from and two separate travel dates. For travel between now through May 31- you must pick up your car rental at these locations: Boca Raton, Clearwater, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. You must pick up your car by May 31, 2012 (Memorial Day Weekend), and all rentals must be returned by June 21; as you can keep the car up to 21 days.
The amazing part about this deal, as that this year you are not limited as to where you can drop off the car, as long as it is within the Continental US. The only requirement is you must drop the car off outside the state of Florida.
Last year, this offer was limited to drop offs on the East Coast. This year you can drive from Key West, Florida all the way to Seattle or San Diego, California, if you so choose! The car rental companies just ask that you return their car to one of their major airport locations across the country.
