The engine fire that broke out onboard the Azamara Quest has left the ship crippled. Authorities state that the ship may have to cancel their April 12 sailing.

On Friday, March 30, at approximately 8:19 p.m. ship time, Azamara Quest experienced a fire in the engine room. The fire was contained to the engine room and was quickly extinguished.
Azamara Quest was on a 17-night sailing that departed Hong Kong, China, on Monday, March 26, and includes port calls to Manila, Philippines; Sandakan (Sabah), Malaysia; Palapo (Sulawesi), Benoa (Bali), Semarang and Komodo, Indonesia and was to conclude in Singapore on Thursday, April 12.
Unfortunately, five crew members onboard the ship suffered smoke inhalation during the fire. The crew members are being treated in our medical facility. The condition of the one crew member that was more severely injured has improved, but is still serious.
Once the engineers got the ship's power restored and engines firing again the ship slowly made its way back to Malaysia. The ship had to cancel the remaining ports of call on this voyage.
Guests had the option of staying onboard the ship while it is docked in Sandakan, or being transferred to a local area hotel until other arrangements have been made.
