Things really have changed when it comes to airfares to Europe. This week we have a big sale going on thru January 1, 2013
Athens, which has just been sky high this summer, has dropped on average by over $600 per person; compared to June and July airfares. The other cities that look like steals and are $400 to $500 cheaper are Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Venice, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Copenhagen, and Lisbon.
You will find from many US cities, including Los Angeles and San Francisco you can get to Europe for under $999 roundtrip, including all taxes. Remember built in to all the airfares, we have the ugly price fixing fuel surcharges of $496 and approximately $100 to $150 in government landing and entry fees.
Just last week we were seeing airfares being $100-$150 cheaper, and travel was valid thru March 31, 2013. But, travel was blacked out for New Year's travel. The travel period has now changed to include New Year's. You can travel between August 26 thru October 21, December 13-19, December 24 thru January 1, 2013.
Barcelona, Madrid, London and Dublin are showing up on our airfare radar as some of the cheapest destinations in Europe. But, you can book almost any city in Europe for about $50 to $100 more than these four cheap cities. These new cheap airfares are valid to over 40 European cities from over 100 U.S. cities. Want even more good news? Your dollar compared to the exchange rate for the Euro is worth 19% more than last year. During July 2011, you needed $1.45 to purchase one Euro, this year you only need $1.22, thus giving you more buying power.
The sample prices below are based on seven days, six nights traveling 3rd or 4th during the of September. We are seeing slightly lower fares in late October and early November.
You can stay up to 30 days, in some cases up to six months. The cheapest travel days to depart to Europe will be Sunday thru Thursdays, and returning Monday thru Thursday. England is the exception, with both the cheapest outbound and return travel days being Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
