American Airlines is way out front when it comes to the number of nonstop destinations they serve out of Dallas / Ft. Worth (DFW) Airport. But one little low-cost airline called...

Spirit has in the past 18 months moved into DFW in a little big way.
They will offer more nonstop destinations than Delta, United, or US Airways. By next April, Spirit will offer nonstop flights to over 26 destinations including Mexico City, Los Cabos, and Cancun, Mexico. Spirit will end up being the second largest airline with the most nonstop destinations serving the Dallas / Ft. Worth Airport.
For travel duringthe month of October Spirit has cut their airfares drastically to entice you to try them out. But also remember we like to call Spirit the good, the bad, and the ugly airline.
The good is that they do cut airfares deeply, while other airlines may not match dollar for dollar in price, but it does force the competition to lower and greatly reduce their airfares.
The bad is that Spirit has a sneaky rule on checked luggage that we want to make sure you are aware of. While most major airlines permit you to check a bag that weighs up to 50lbs. for free or for a fee; Spirit, for a fee, will let you check your bag if it weighs under 40 POUNDS. Yes folks, 40 lbs. and for those of you who may forget and try to check a bag between 41 to 50 lbs, Sprit will charge you another $25 bucks as a penalty on top of the normal checked bag fee, now that's just bad!
Now the Ugly is just PLANE simple. Only Spirit and Allegiant Airlines have the gall to charge you up to $45 (pre-pay $35) for you to bring a roller bag on to the plane as carry-on luggage. On everyone else it is free! Want even more bad news? Starting November 6, 2012, if you don't pre-pay for your carry-on roller bag and pay the fee at the gate, then you better have a C-note or a $100 bill ready to fork over. Now that is just skyway robbery!
Spirit also has another good and bad issue. If you want pot luck on your seat assignments than you do not have to pay additional fees, that the good news. However, if you want to lock in a prepaid seat assignment, it will cost you between $10 to $25 each-way.
There is one good value here, Spirit has something called the "Big Seat." The Big Seat ranges on the average between $25 to $60 each-way. But if you want two by two seating, and 5 to 6 inches more in leg room, it would cost you a fortune with other airlines. So
