The price of first class seats has dropped dramatically for spring travel. We have some sample airfares that you have just got to check out to believe.
One of the many benefits of flying in the front cabin are that airlines such as American and Delta permit you to check up to three bags for free.
When we looked at the cost of checking three bags; it would cost $25 for the first bag, $35 for the second bag, and up to $150 for the third bag each-way, for a grand total of $420 roundtrip on baggage fees alone.
Today, when we checked the cheapest airfares traveling between LAX to LAS, departing June 5, and returning June 12, the coach airfare was $142 roundtrip, including all taxes. (Not including spirit airlines)
Our cheapest first class airfare was $281 roundtrip, during the same travel period. That is a difference of $123 roundtrip, or almost $300 less than what it would cost to fly in coach and check three bags.
For those extra few bucks for a seat in first class, you get priority boarding, priority security, a bigger seat; you get on and off the plane first, more leg room, two by two seating, snacks, or a full meal, check up to three bags for free, and of course, your choice of several adult beverages.
Please note there are also some reduced one-way first class class airfares available.
Flying first class is a great option if you have a child retuning to college, especially if they have three bags of stuff they want to take with them to the campus. Just remember if the college student is under 21 years of age, no adult beverages will be served, but I'm sure the airlines will provide all the free milk and cookies they want.
